Get Found!Maria Gudelis on SEO:

“SEO is critical for your business and can provide easy sales increases for your business”

One of the marketing channels businesses overlook is the power of being found on the Internet and how that translates into more sales!

One of the most discussed marketing channels on the internet is search engine optimization or more commonly referred to as SEO.  Discussions on SEO forums often get heated as members argue about which SEO tactics work best as there are hundreds of tactics!  White hat, black hat, grey hat, outsourced, web 2.0…you name it!

Search engine optimization is merely the art of making your site friendly to the search engines
so you will rank well for keywords related to your business.

As a business owner, you want search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN to rank you highly. For
example, if your business is about loan modification in Las Vegas, you want to show up on the first
page of results when someone searches for “Las Vegas loan modification experts” or “Las Vegas loan modification attorney”.

Top rankings for popular keywords can bring hundreds of visitors to your site day in and day out.

Just think of the advertising you might spend on direct mail and newspaper ads versus the ongoing power of being found on Google!

You can easily decrease your advertising costs by one half and increase your sales at the same time!

There are many thoughts and advice given to achieve top rankings. Google and other search engines carefully guard the algorithms that determine ranking to prevent manipulation. Though they guard it like Fort Knok…through trial and error, experts have been able to identify what works and what is downright dangerous.

Dangerous as in if you do XYZ steps, you could put your website into the “google sandbox” and thus, not get found.  So be careful if you hire an SEO expert as if it sounds ‘too good to be true’, well, it probably is and your revenues are being put into jeapordy!

3 Marketing Mistakes to Avoid by Maria Gudelis – Part 3

15 10 2008

Part 3 – A Bigger Mistake than You Realize by Maria Gudelis

In my 3rd part of the 3 marketing mistakes to avoid series, I’m going to cover what I think may be a bigger mistake than most people realize.

You can’t imagine how many sales and potential customers you’re losing by doing this one thing.

I’m talking about loading up your web site with time consuming load objects such as Flash videos, large graphics and so on.

Yes, I know, we live in the age of technology. Everything is super sized and super speed. You’ve been on cable or DSL for so long that you can’t even imagine going back to dial up.

Well news flash my friend. The stats are in and they don’t lie.

About 13% of the Internet population is still on dial up. What this means to you as a salesperson is that if you create a site with large Flash videos or graphics and your site takes more than just a few seconds to load, you WILL lose these people. They are not going to hang around.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to alienate 13% of my potential market. So I make my sites quick loading. All those fancy bells and whistles are not needed. If you’re going to include a Flash video for your intro, make it optional. Give people a chance to bypass it. If you need graphics, optimize them as much as you can. Screen resolution doesn’t require graphics to be large in size.

That’s it. No long drawn out pitch here. If you fail to do this, you WILL lose about 13% of your audience and potentially 13% of your sales.

If you want to learn many more marketing mistakes plus a whole lot more tips that are critical for running your business, you might want to check out “My Secret Articles.”

I know you’d expect something like this to cost a fortune. Well, it doesn’t.

But I’m not going to tell you how much.

Instead, here’s the web site where you can check it out.

3 Worst Marketing Mistakes to Avoid in 3 Minutes by Maria Gudelis

15 10 2008

In this blog post, I’m going to focus on another one of my rants on marketing mistakes.  Part 1 of marketing mistakes to avoid, I went over a big one, not getting pro hosting and your own domain.

Part 2 – Marketing Mistakes to Avoid in 3 minutes or less

Well, this one ranks right up there with that blunder. Free advertising.

Now, before you jump all over me and tell me that not all free advertising is worthless, I already know that. Article marketing, which is one of the best forms of advertising, is absolutely free.

However, there are many forms of free advertising that aren’t worth the time to spit at. I’ll give you a few examples.

FFA Posting. This is a real dog. I don’t understand why people bother doing this unless they know a few tricks that I teach in my advertising book. But to just post ads to these FFA sites is insane. The sites do not get indexed by the search engines and nobody goes to them so you’re not getting any traffic in any manner shape or form.

Banner Exchanges. This is another waste of time. The studies are in. Nobody clicks on banners anymore. Oh sure, there are things you can do to get people to click on your banners, which I also teach in my advertising guide, but a plain banner might as well not even be there.

Classified Sites. The problem with free classified ads (other than craigslist) is that most of the people who go to classified sites are not looking for business opportunities. They’re looking for a pet or a used motorcycle. People who post business opportunities to classified sites are totally wasting their time.

I could go on, but my point is not so much with the type of free advertising that people use. My point is that most people feel that they shouldn’t have to spend any money to promote their business.

Do you know what my monthly advertising expense is each month for just one of my companies? It’s $300. That $300 is responsible for bringing me in over $2,000 monthly. If I didn’t spend the money, that company wouldn’t make as much as it does.

So to decide that you’re not going to spend money on advertising either because you feel you shouldn’t have to or worse, because you “can’t afford it” is totally insane and one of the biggest marketing mistakes you can make.

Next post in part 3, I’ll go over another big marketing mistake that really drives me crazy.

Enjoy, Maria Gudelis

An interesting opportunity…did you know you can buy a beach front property in Ecuador?  The opportunities in Ecuador real estate will astound you as it is truly an untapped region in comparison to the real estate across the globe.
